Delicate Arch is a lone standing arch also known as The Arch, and is the most well-known arch in Arches National Park. In 1923, a prospector named Alexander Ringhoffer wrote to the Rio Grande Railroad in an attempt to advertise the area and obtain support for the creation of a national park. The arches in Arches National Park were produced as a result of erosion over weak areas of Jurassic period sandstone formations. The formations in this national park will astound you, while the paths will refresh you and the sunsets will inspire you. It's the easternmost of Utah's five outstanding national parks. The world's densest concentration of natural stone arches can be found in Arches National Park. Parking lots can be very busy during peak season and during holiday weekends. The drive time from the visitor center is approximately 45 minutes.
